Expressive Arts

A programme of music, art, drama and dance is taught throughout the primary to equip pupils with the necessary skills to express herself/himself in a personalised and individual way. Specialists in PE, assist classroom teachers with their programme of work, delivering lessons themselves in many instances. We work hard to promote a rich climate of creativity by encouraging activities and events that unite the creative arts and bring them alive. These include clubs for recorder, flute and drama, class led assemblies, school shows and recitals, and many performances and workshops from professional theatre companies and musicians e.g. Scottish Opera. Where a pupil has a specific talent in the arts, they are encouraged to contribute this within the life of the school – our annual talent show often revealing new starts. We are keen to hear of pupil achievements outwith school and this is recognised and recorded
