Beattock School has a very long history with entries in the school log book dating well back into the last century.

For many years the school was housed in a traditionally constructed, attractive Victorian building about one mile from the village. The new school building, together with the surrounding houses, gained a Saltire Award for design, due to the bright airy classrooms and multi-purpose hall.
