Tuesday 1 November 2022 Work Ready Day 2022/23 Term 1 We held a Work Ready Day on Wednesday 28th September.
Tuesday 1 November 2022 Rights Respecting Schools Steering Group 2022/23 Moffat Academy have achieved the first stage of the Rights Respecting Schools Award, Bronze: Rights Committed. In order to support the work moving forward we have established a Rights Respecting steering group which includes a variety of young people and staff. Pictures below are some of our members. Primary also have a steering group.
Monday 31 October 2022 Goodbye Mr Douglas After nearly 22 years service at Moffat Academy, Mr Douglas was given a Guard of Honour by pupils and staff as he left the building for the last time today, 31st October. We wish Mr Douglas all the best in his retirement and he will be much missed in our school.

Monday 31 October 2022 Success for Ryan Wilson! 2022/23 Term 1 We have been informed that Ryan Wilson has successfully passed his level 2 PDQB/SCQF chanter/bagpipes exam that he sat during the summer. This is SQA credited.

Thursday 13 October 2022 Beattock Primary Maths Week Scotland 2022/23 - Term 1 Beattock Primary School welcomed Mr McClatchey, a DG STEM Teacher, to the school to help us celebrate Maths Week Scotland with a fun Maths Roadshow. The pupils enjoyed solving a range of Maths puzzles.
Thursday 13 October 2022 Beattock Primary Digital Leaders, 2022/23 - Term 1 The P4-7 class at Beattock have elected Digital Leaders. Digital Leaders are children with a passion for technology who want to share their knowledge with others and promote the use of all things digital throughout the school. We look forward to watching these pupils flourish in this role.
Thursday 13 October 2022 Macmillan Cancer Care Fundraiser, 2022/23 - Term 1 A huge well done to S6 pupils for raising £220 for Macmillan Cancer Care. A Coffee Morning was held at breaktime for Primary staff and lunchtime for Secondary Staff and pupils. Cakes, teas and coffees were also sold at S2 Parents Evening. Thank you to Anne Garrett, our local Macmillan fundraiser and Elaine for coming in for a cheque presentation.

Friday 7 October 2022 Moffat Academy links with The Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust Harmony Club, 2022/23 - Term 1 Moffat Academy are working alongside the The Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust by providing an entertainment piece each week for The Harmony Club. Last week it was Elsie Dickinson's turn (P5/6)with her award winning Highland Dancing skills, well done Elsie!

Friday 7 October 2022 Secondary Mural Trip to Glasgow, 2022/23 - Term 1 On Wednesday 28th September, our senior art and design pupils travelled to Glasgow to explore the incredible street art in the city. With a with a local, expert guide, pupils got to hear the stories and inspiration behind each piece whilst learning about how the art scene in Glasgow has developed dramatically over the last decade and beyond. They also enjoyed pizza and ice cream!
Friday 7 October 2022 Moffat Academy Scholastic Book Fair, 2022/23 - Term 1 This term we have had our Scholastic book fair - our first one since Covid! It was a huge success and we have raised a large amount for much needed new books for Moffat Academy. Thank you also to all the amazing parents and pupils who bought books to help us fundraise and thank you also to all of our helpers who put up posters, spread the word and generally a massive help overall, we couldn't have done it without you.

Wednesday 14 September 2022 PC Irons Visits Moffat Nursery, 2022/23 -Term 1 Nursery pupils had an exciting visit from PC Irons on Tuesday 13th September. PC Irons talked about his job and pupils were permitted to have a seat in his police car! He even let off the siren for us to hear - it was very loud!

Monday 12 September 2022 Moffat Primary P3/4 Hot Air Balloons, 2022/23 - Term 1 P3/4 have created a fantastic display of hot air balloons outside of their classroom!
Tuesday 6 September 2022 Community Open Evening, 2022/23 - Term 1 We were delighted to open our school cluster on Monday 5th September to our parents, carers, young people, and local community at our first annual Moffat Academy Community Open Evening. The campus was a hive of activity throughout the event which was well supported by our community partners - 59 in total which was incredible! On offer were prefect led tours of the school - all nursery, primary and secondary learning and teaching areas - our senior students did a brilliant job of meeting, greeting, and facilitating these activities, thank you so much to a great group of young people. In addition, we had a community partner fair set up in the assembly hall, dance studio and dining areas. We were pleased to be able to offer our visitors complimentary refreshments which were generously sponsored by Littles the Bakers, Marchbank Bakers, the Moffat Co-op, and the Spar at the Colvin Filling Station - this would not have been possible without them, and we are incredibly grateful for their supp

Wednesday 24 August 2022 Beattock Primary Dine and Democracy, 2021/22 -Term 4 The Primary School had the chance to evaluate Health Week 2022 in the form of a 'Dine and Democracy' event. The children were asked to review the activities they enjoyed, reflect on those they weren't so keen on and make suggestions for future Health Weeks. The children were seated in social groupings of mixed ages so that quality discussions could take place. They enjoyed sampling their Overnight Oats which they had made the previous day with Mrs Young. Pupil voice is of great importance at Beattock Primary in line with UNCRC Article 12 - you have the right to give your opinion and for adults to listen and take it seriously.
