Beattock and Moffat Academy Cluster

Beattock Primary News 2022/23, Term 4

P7 Graduation

Beattock Primary celebrated their annual Prize Giving and Primary 7 Graduation at Moffat Academy.  The event marked the end of what has been an incredible, if somewhat turbulent Academic Year, with a move to Moffat Academy earlier this term.  The children entertained their friends and families with a personalised rendition of the Proclaimers' 'I'm on my Way' and the P7 leavers expertly delivered their speeches, sharing their dreams and aspirations for the future.  Awards, trophies and books were presented to our students for both sporting and academic achievements.
As with the end of most academic sessions we said our goodbyes to staff leaving us.  This year Mrs Leigh leaves the Nursery to take up a post within Moffat Primary as does Mrs Berridge, and Mrs Wilde has been successful in her application and subsequent interview for a Nursery Nurse Post at Lockerbie.  They will be very sadly missed but we wish them all well.
Thank you to Emily Hume S4 for taking some fabulous shots of the afternoon.

P7 Leavers Disco

Our P7's enjoyed a fantastic evening at the Moffat Town Hall for their P7 Leavers Disco. Thank you to the Moffat Academy seniors for coming along to help and the Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust for having us!

Poster Winners Tammi and Emelie

Congratulations to both Tammi McAleese and Emelie McKenna who have been successful in winning local poster competitions. Tammi won a prize in the Moffat Show Poster Competition and both Tammi and Emelie won prizes in the Houston's Competition. Well done to both.

Granny Mave

On Wednesday 24th May, Granny Mave, who is currently cycling a 1000 mile journey around Scotland for Macmillan Cancer Support Scotland, took her overnight stop in Moffat.

It also happened to be Mavis' 85th birthday so our young people from Moffat Primary and Beattock Primary School made some cards and presented them to Mave at her surprise birthday buffet at Moffat Town Hall. She was over the moon with all the amazing designs and supportive words in them. Well done Granny Mave, you are an inspiration to all! 🚴‍♀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thank you to Anne Garrett for inviting us and to Cora, Ava, Isla, Olly and Finn who kindly came along to help present Mave's cards.

Michael and Hanna Paton Visit

As part of their 'Australia' topic, P4-P7 welcomed former Moffat Academy pupil Michael Paton and his daughter Hanna, all the way from Perth in Australia. Michael and Hanna talked about their life in Perth and answered all the questions that the pupils had for them. Thank you so much Michael and Hanna for your interesting visit!
