 Christmas Around the world

A huge well done to Nursery, P1, P2 and P3 on their excellent performance of Christmas Around the World this week. The confidence, energy and comedic timing were fantastic and the children should be very proud.

Author Visit

On Wednesday P3-P5 were very luck to have an author visit courtesy of the Wigtown Book Festival and their Big DoG Schools Tour. Writer and journalist David C Flanagan joined us all the way from Orkney to talk to us about his fun book characters and read from one of his 'Uncle Pete' books. Barney wasn't too sure of Geoffrey the Shark who made an appearance for question time, but apart from that everyone very much enjoyed the visit! Thank you to the Wigtown Book Festival and to David for travelling such a long way to visit schools in our region, it is so appreciated.

Primary Remembrance assembly

On the 11th day of the 11th month, our Primary learners came together for a thoughtful Remembrance Assembly. We reflected on the importance of remembering those who served and showed great respect throughout.

A special thank you to Johnnie and Ethan (S2) for playing The Last Post so beautifully, to Daniel (S6) for his piano playing and reflective words, and to Rev. Macrae and Sandra for their meaningful messages.

Well done also to our P7 speakers, who read their poem and lit remembrance candles with real maturity. We are very proud of the respect shown by all of our Primary children.

Winter Fair

We were delighted to share that the fair raised £613.78 from our Winter Fair. Thank you to everyone for your fantastic support.

Our Llama’s Birthday competition was won by Jamie Wilson and Freddie Taylor won the photoshoot draw.

And finally, for Teddies in a Jar, there were 97 teddies. The closest guess was 96, so Roman Martin in P7 has won the Squish-elf and Haribo.

Well done to all our winners, and thank you again for supporting the Winter Fair!

Breakfast with Santa

Primary pupils at Moffat Academy enjoyed a magical day as the school hosted its much-anticipated Breakfast with Santa.

The early-morning event welcomed children into a warm and festive atmosphere, complete with Christmas music, seasonal decorations and a special visit from Santa himself.

The event was free for all children who signed up, with costs fully covered through proceeds raised at the recent school concerts and Winter Fair, ensuring the opportunity was accessible to families.

The school extended particular thanks to R . Little Bakers Ltd, whose generous donation of freshly made pancakes proved a highlight of the morning and was thoroughly enjoyed by the children.
