Jupiter Artland Trip
Moffat young people got the opportunity to see sculpture up close when they spent a day at Jupiter Art land near Edinburgh. Our S2 artists got to learn about and view the work of sculptors such as Charles Jencks, Anish Kapoor and Antony Gormley. A fantastic day was had by all.

the r-evolve project
The R-evolve project has been a fantastic experience so far for young people at Moffat Academy. They’ve really enjoyed learning new metalworking skills, designing and building parts of a sculpture that will be permanently displayed in the school grounds. The feedback has been hugely positive — students have gained confidence, practical skills and a real sense of pride in creating something lasting for our school community.

Board Games
S1H PSE have been busy creating their own SHANARRI-inspired Snakes and Ladders board games. Each game included questions and tasks to help players understand the SHANARRI wellbeing indicators as they made their way around the board.
Today the rest of the class got to try out their creations — and we had a brilliant time playing them!
Take a look at some of their fantastic work!

Football
A huge well done to our S1 and S2 Boys Rugby teams who competed against Langholm and Annan in a Rugby Festival yesterday (5th November 2025). A mixture of players new to the game and experienced players, the boys played some fantastic Rugby and were a credit to the school in very wet and muddy conditions.

A massive well done to the experienced players, who encouraged and helped their teammates and to the new players who looked right at home and played demonstrated real grit and willingness on the pitch.A special thank you also to S6 pupils Ellis Durston for refereeing fantastically throughout and to Scott McCrosson for excellent tactical and coaching advice from the touchline.

Girls Football
On Tuesday 2nd December, 19 S1-4 girls travelled to Dumfries High School on the X74, to compete as an S1/2 team and S3/4 team in the SPAR cup. They were up against very strong, experienced opposition from all over Dumfries and Galloway, yet played with determination, skill and in good spirits.
Top goalscorers from Moffat were Chloe Quigley and Aila Crossan.
Well done to all!
Huge thanks to Mr Page for organising the trip and coaching the girls.

Moffat Christmas Lights Switch On
The Moffat Academy Pipeband opened the Moffat Christmas Lights Switch-on on Sunday 30th November.
In addition, a group of young entrepreneurs from the academy proudly showcased their work as part of an exciting enterprise project in collaboration with Kayantics. The students displayed and sold their handmade creations at the market, demonstrating the valuable skills they’ve gained throughout the project.
Meanwhile at Moffat Library, there was an excellent exhibition of model rams from Secondary art students, to celebrate 150 years of the Moffat Ram.
Well done to all participators!

Cadets
The S3 cadets class had a teamwork challenge to successfully pitch a tent. The two groups worked effectively with each other to complete the task although they were slightly outside the target time. The challenge of packing the tent proved too much for one of the groups who needed more assistance.

Article 29 (goals of education) Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
