Cash for Kids Fundraiser
We have been raising money as part of the Schools Challenge with Cash for Kids. We'll get to keep everything we raise, but the top three fundraising schools receive an extra award from the charity. We were so grateful to receive 3rd place! Thank you so much to everyone for participating, being good sports and parting with your cash.
We held a 'Bake off' and other activities such as leg waxing to raise much needed cash for our playground.
Winning results from our raffles and competitions:
Squares - £25 cash prize won by Ruairidh Watson P5/6
Treasure Map - chocolate prizes won by Eric McPhee, Thomas Brown P6, Emma McNaughton and Eloise Anderson P1, Finlay Walton S3.
Cake Raffles - Rachel McGarva and Eric McPhee.
Baking Competition - £25 Amazon First prize Liam Ptak P7, Runner Ups winning £15 Amazon vouchers were Tess Wilson S5 and Darach Candlish P1.
Thank you to everyone who entered the Bake Off, the standard was super high and very difficult to judge. Thank you to our amazing S6 helpers who made today possible, also to the good sports who let Mrs Berridge wax their legs including PC Davie Irons and Mr MacBeath.
What a great school cluster we have and exceptional young people, all this has enabled us to have a brilliant Cash for Kids fun day at Moffat!

Renita Boyle Visit
On Wednesday 8th March we had a special treat at Moffat Academy an a extra World Book Day event. We had the fantastic storyteller and author from Wigtown, Renita Boyle to visit. Renita told stories (including her own book Honk! Honk! Rattle!Rattle!) and sang funny songs to our Primary pupils and held poetry and teabag decorating workshops for our S1 pupils. Pupils even had the chance to learn some Makaton Sign Language. Thank you Renita for a brilliant day, you entertained everyone as always - even some of our senior pupils were excited to see Renita again after a previous visit a few years ago!

World Book Day 2023
On Thursday 2nd March, Moffat Academy took part in 'The Masked Reader' as part of World Book Day celebrations. Miss Gibbon created videos of teachers reading for different age groups with added facial and vocal filters! Pupil then had to guess who the Masked Readers were. It was a great success and our young people loved taking part! Primary pupils dressed up and were encouraged to make their own outfits this year or repurpose. Secondary also took part in a tailored Masked Reader during their PSE slots and participated in a World Book Day kahoot. All staff put up posters outside their classrooms or offices, telling everyone what book they were currently reading. What a great day we had and we are still looking forward to welcoming storyteller and author Renita Boyle on Wednesday 10th March as a belated World Book Day event.
