Moffat Academy Christmas Jumper Day

We had a great Christmas Jumper Day at Moffat Academy, well done to all those who upcycled (Mrs Woods was very impressed and awarded some prizes!) and thank you to all those who brought in their foodbank donations.

Thank you to Rhuaridh Montgomerie for assisting with some photography.

Book Week Scotland 2022

Pupils have been taking part in Book Week Scotland activities this week! Secondary pupils have been competing in a Countdown tournament and Nursery to P3 pupils have been viewing and voting for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize nominations. They have watched the authors reading the nominated books and then voted for their favourites which will be entered into the Scottish Book Trust website to join in with voting pupils from all over Scotland. They also received their Bookbug bags and Read, Write and Count bags. P4-P7 have been writing reviews on their fantastic author visit from last week (David Macphail) and also designing book covers.
Secondary Countdown Winners were:
Ruaridh Harris, James Wilson and Lukas Bradshaw
Mrs Hume, Mrs Metcalf, Mr McPhee and Mr Breen.
Congratulations to the staff team who won 'The Final Countdown' today after a tough battle against Ruaridh, James and Lukas.

Remembrance

On Friday 11th November we held two Remembrance assemblies for Primary and Secondary. Thank you to Reverend Elsie Macrae for visiting school to deliver a service for our pupils. Thanks also to speakers Grace Johnstone and Catie Palmer and to Rory Hunter for playing The Last Post.
We will remember them.
UNCRC Article 29 (goals of education) Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures, and the environment.
