World Book Day
Last term, our school celebrated World Book Day by organising a special book sale to raise funds for new school books and library activities.
Beautifully staged as 'Narnia' the sale included a wide variety of books including storybooks, novels, comics, and educational books. Throughout the day, young people visited the event to browse the different titles and choose books that interested them; it was exciting to see everyone sharing their favourite stories and discovering new books to read. Parents and Caregivers were also invited to view the sale after school and it was very well attended.
Overall, the World Book Day book sale was a great success. It not only raised funds but also encouraged students to enjoy reading and explore new books.
Thank you to all of our P7, secondary and staff helpers, Barney-sitters, the MAPC for donating some of the prizes and to everyone who donated or visited the sale. Well done to book donation winners Struan Leishman P3 (Primary), Joni Pattison S2 (secondary) and Eric McPhee (staff) and to all outfit competition winners!

Doddie Cycle Run
Moffat Academy supported the Moffat RFC cycle team as they set off on the Doddie Weir Triple Crown Challenge. Good luck to all of the team! Show your support for the Moffat Rugby Football Club and the 40 teams taking part - a 750-mile ride from Melrose to Dublin in four days – to raise vital funds for MND research.

Scottish Schools Pipe Band championships 2026
Moffat young people represented Dumfries and Galloway for the SWSPDA in the The Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships 2026 held at the The William McIlvanney Campus in Kilmarnock at the weekend. They achieved a fantastic 5th place out of a 12 strong category. An excellent day had by all and our young people did us proud!
It was also Ryan Wilson's last time representing as he is leaving , so he was presented with a trophy for his commitment to the SWSPDA. Well done Ryan!

Pipe Band Drum Upgrade!
We are extremely grateful to have new laser-printed graphics on our Pipe Band bass drum. Our sincere thanks to Craig Harvie and Darren Brown for their expertise in the design and production of the logo, and to Jim Kilpatrick Percussion for the professional installation. Pictured is Mason Crooke, our bass drum percussionist.

Sports Leaders and Gymnastics Club
Two young sports leaders Ellen Lauder and Giuliana Capriglione successfully organised and delivered a gymnastics club for primary children, demonstrating strong leadership, planning and communication skills throughout the block.
Over the course of the block, the whole group showed noticeable progress. They worked hard to improve their balance, coordination, strength and control.
The block concluded with a friendly competition in which every learner performed a floor routine and completed a vault. They demonstrated the skills they had been practising and performed with confidence and pride. Their routines showed clear development from the start of the block, and many learners exceeded their own expectations.
Overall, the gymnastics club was a great success. The sports leaders displayed maturity and initiative in running the sessions, and the group benefited from a positive, engaging, and challenging learning experience. The progress made by all participants is a credit to their hard work and the effective leadership provided.
The results were 1st: Malia, 2nd: Aurla and 3=Nora and Nina
